A riderless horse named Downtown Hottie finished first at a race at New York's Belmont Park on Wednesday after throwing her jockey right out of the gate.
Strictly speaking, Downtown Hottie didn't win, as, under the official rules, riderless horses are listed as having not finished the race.
But the mare certainly trumped the other horses as far as any of the spectators were concerned, and proved that a strong, independent filly was better off unburdened by the constant whipping of a little man upon her back.
The amusing spectacle was captured on video by the racecourse.
In the footage, the horse, number 2, immediately throws off her jockey, or, rather, he falls off of his own accord, as soon as they get out of the gates.
He is alright, though some suggested he'd struggle to get another gig after such a poor display of jockeying skills.
