Hester Retirement, Chicago Bears record-setting kick returner and wide receiver Devin Hester says he doesn’t know if he is going to play football anymore and is devastated that the team fired head coach Lovie Smith after nine seasons.
Hester also blamed the media and fans saying they “got what they wanted” with Smith’s firing. Smith was let go on Monday despite the Bears going 10-6 in 2012, but the Bears won’t be playing in the postseason for the fifth time in six seasons.

“I don’t even know if I want to play again, man,” Hester said to the Chicago Tribune. “You know, that’s been on my mind for two years now.”
“It’s not (as much fun anymore). It ain’t. So, I have my workers’ comp papers in my pocket. See how I feel, go home and talk to my wife, my family. See where we go from there. I’ve got two beautiful kids, man, young. Two boys. A lot of stress has been on my mind lately.”
Hester, 30, averaged 25.9 yards on kickoff returns, 8.3 yards on punts and caught 23 passes for 242 yards and one touchdown this season. Hester holds the NFL record for the most combined special teams return touchdowns in a career with 18.
